The 100th Day

Like the other couple’s who’d crossed the milestone, Hyun Joong and Hwang Bo managed to stay together for 100 days, making reason to celebrate. Along with being married for 100 days, the events that took place on that day took their relationship into a deeper level.

The couple started the day picking out their attire for the photo shoot, picking out suits and dresses that they both liked. Hwang Bo, who still felt somewhat uncomfortable, being alone with Hyun Joong, asked her friend to come by, causing Hyun Joong to be uncomfortable and nervous due to his adult phobia. Once she left however, Hyun Joong and Hwang Bo decided to choose Hwang Bo’s dresses together, saying them out loud simultaneously. Both of them had the same answer every time they picked, shocking them.

What really brings both of them together would be when they start their photo shoot. Hwang Bo can’t look Hyun Joong in the eyes, instead bursting into laughter over her embarrassment and shyness. The photographer decided on a shot where Hwang Bo would kiss Hyun Joong. This surprised both of them, since this would be their first kiss. It was difficult and both of them were nervous, but Hwang Bo managed to complete the task at hand.

After that, it was as if they’d grown a lot closer, laughing and joking naturally. They took their individual shots, where Hwang Bo took note that Hyun Joong stayed by her side even though it wasn’t his turn to take photos. She also stated she’d come to realize he no longer seemed like he was younger than her.

Once their individual shots were done, the couple shots began once more. This time the concept was fun and playful, with both of them holding signs and jumping in the air. To create a more loving photo, the photographer asked them to hold hands, and Hyun Joong immediately held out his hand for Hwang Bo to take, although quickly retreated when Hwang Bo, not seeing his actions, told the photographer they were fine. Eventually, they did hold hands.

When the setting is changed to the outdoors is when the change in their relationship can truly be seen. Hyun Joong and Hwang Bo were asked to make eye contact again, this time both of them being able to look each other in the eyes longer than usual. Then, Hyun Joong is asked to kiss Hwang Bo on the cheek. Hyun Joong was surprised and had as much difficulty doing it as Hwang Bo did. However, he eventually did, kissing her gently and declaring his success to the photographers as if he’d passed a test. While the kiss was adorable and exciting to watch, it’s their comments in their private interview that really reveals their feelings.

"I was really nervous at the time. I’m still nervous now. Even though I knew when his lips were reaching me and not, I kept moving away from him. I don’t know about others, but there are times when you can hear your heart beating right? I heard mine beating today." - Hwang Bo

"It was quite amazing right? When people tell me to kiss, I don’t do it, but why did I do it today? Honestly, it’s because there were (feelings) of like, that’s why I did it. I’m not sure too but now I think that I have to show that I care a bit more." - Kim Hyun Joong

With each shot they take, the closer they get. The next notable photo shoot took place in a wooded area, where the couple chatted on a bench while being photographed. More laughter and jokes, but they’re now able to hold a long standing conversation. On top of that, their eye contact is frequent and without shy laughter, just smiles. Hwang Bo asked for another friend to come by, causing Hyun Joong confusion. They'd accomplished a lot over such a short amount of time, so what was making her so uncomfortable? Her friend did eventually come, and brought lunch.

The final key photo shoot takes place inside, but that’s not as important. What’s important is what Hyun Joong chose to wear. While Hwang Bo is dressed in a white flowing dress, Hyun Joong chose to wear everything she’d made for him. He jokingly called himself a Mexican, donned in the sombrero they bought on their date in Japan, the yellow scarf she knitted, and the white vest she sewed for him.
