The couple shirts — During their honeymoon, Hwang Bo presented Hyun Joong with couple shirts with a golden cartoon mouse printed on it. Hyun Joong, who disliked the whole concept of couple shirts, eventually wore it, but not without severely altering it so it would be different from Hwang Bo’s. Disappointed, Hwang Bo never presented Hyun Joong with couple shirts again.

The opportunity to dress the same rose again when Hyun Joong and Hwang Bo joined Alex and Shin Ae for a couple vacation. After returning from fishing, Hwang Bo was shocked to see Alex after he’d changed into a new shirt and claimed she had the same shirt. Sure enough, she presented the same shirt from her luggage. Alex suggested giving it to Hyun Joong, which Hwang Bo quickly denied, having remembered their honeymoon. Alex disregarded her and successfully tricked Hyun Joong into exchanging shirts with him before telling him Hwang Bo wanted to see him.

Hwang Bo attempted to hide her shirt from him for a while before giving up, telling Hyun Joong that she’d “done wrong to him.” She presented herself to him, with Alex and Shin Ae laughing as Hyun Joong’s expression. It took little coaxing from Alex until Hyun Joong stated that he didn’t mind, saying these shirts were more stylish than the previous ones. Hwang Bo, overjoyed, skipped around the room. Hyun Joong wore the shirt for the remainder of the night.

The scarf & the piano — After their honeymoon, the lettuce couple started moving into their apartment. Along with their house came a grand piano, where Hyun Joong proceeded to play Kim Bum Soo’s "Bogoshipda". Hwang Bo listened intently and nearly became immersed when Hyun Joong suddenly stopped after the introduction, saying that was all he’d managed to learn. Hwang Bo crumpled in laughter, and then they proceeded to continue with their unpacking.

Along the way, they uncovered Hwang Bo’s knitting, where she was making a yellow scarf for Hyun Joong. In return, Hyun Joong agreed to finish learning the piano piece by the time Hwang Bo finished knitting the scarf.

After living in their house for a while, the couple decided to move into a smaller apartment in order to accommodate for gas prices and their financial situation. On their moving day, Hwang Bo had come down with a cold. She presented the reason why soon after moving in; giving Hyun Joong the long scarf she’d finished knitting. Hyun Joong was surprised she’d finished the scarf so quickly and truthfully told her he wasn’t able to finish learning the piece, although he’d learned how to play what he did know with more feeling, which he proved to her. Somewhat saddened, Hwang Bo accepted hearing the piece being played with more emotion.

Feeling regretful for not fulfilling their promise, Hyun Joong decided to sing her a song to make up for it. On his first attempt he had to read the lyrics off of her phone, which caused him to stumble when the phone’s backlight would turn off. Deciding that the performance was unsatisfactory, Hyun Joong later locked himself into their bed room, memorizing the lyrics. He proceeded to sing to Hwang Bo again, making her happy.

A thousand cranes and everlasting love — While Hyun Joong was memorizing song lyrics in order to sing to Hwang Bo, he’d locked himself inside their bedroom. Hwang Bo was left outside, leaving her slightly frustrated when he wouldn’t come out since he was leaving soon to go to Japan, limiting the amount of time they’d be able to spend together. When Hyun Joong finally came out, his excuse was that he was making a paper crane and he had a very special technique to make them. While it was not the real reason, he gave her the crane and proceeded to tell her that a thousand cranes would mean everlasting love.

On the day Hyun Joong and Hwang Bo vacationed with Alex and Shin Ae, Hyun Joong was making paper cranes every time he was left by himself. After playing with fireworks, the two couples split up and Hwang Bo trashed all of their used fireworks. Hyun Joong took the opportunity to hide five paper cranes inside plastic eggs, burying them in the sand and marking them. Then he drew a circle around where the eggs were buried before sitting in the middle of the circle, waiting for Hwang Bo to return. After drinking and chatting, Hyun Joong finally revealed that he had a gift, making Hwang Bo dig up all five cranes.

He asked her if she remembered what he’d said before about a thousand cranes. Adding on the one he’d made before he left for Japan and the five additional cranes, he said he’d make her 994 more and treat her well. The tender gesture was something unexpected from Hyun Joong, who used to be considered the kid groom that was inexperienced and oblivious in romance prior to this event.
